#1 Nanyang Lake

Nanyang Lake- long recognised as the spookiest and weirdest sites in NTU. Rumour has it that on certain nights, students walking by would see a lady clad in full denim, drenched from head to toe walking by the grass patches barefooted, at the unholiest hour. Others reported seeing a hand flailing on the surface of the water and disappearing beneath the water, then feeling droplets of water on them. Feeling wet yet?
#2 Chinese Heritage Centre

Built in the 1950s, the Chinese Heritage Centre in NTU is recognized as a national monument for its long history and old design. Alongside its old history is of course, the old friends and regulars of Chinese Heritage Centre itself... Ever walked past the Chinese Heritage Centre at night on your way to supper? If you haven't, please don't try it. Especially not alone. Students have reported seeing the lights inside flickering and felt someone looking at them from inside. Some have even spotted weird silhouettes hanging around the building. Let us know if you do see any too.
#3 Yunnan Garden

Right opposite the Chinese Heritage Centre is the creepy and spooky Yunnan Garden. Seems like a great hangout spot at night, but maybe not exactly meant for us. When walking through the road between Chinese Heritage Centre and Yunnan Garden, where would you look? Those who stole a glance at the Yunnan Garden would remember seeing a dimly lit pavilion- not just any pavilion but one with someone sitting in it, except who would be there every night?
#4 NTU President's Lodge

Situated up a deserted hill, the only way up is through the Nanyang Circle. You gotta climb a winding road all the way up, only to find a lone lodge. It used to be easier to enter, but with security now, it's harder to do so. There were rumours about the swing in the garden swinging on its own and someone actually caught it on video before. It doesn't help much that it's not the only swing that has been sighted moving on its own. Check them out at your own risk.
#5 Hall ? Toilet

Everyone would have their own share of experiencing something or someone spooky when you wake up in the middle of the night and you need to visit the toilet. Your roomie is sleeping soundly while you're faced with a bladder concern. As a considerate roomie, you decide not to wake them up and head to the toilet yourself instead. I mean, who needs someone to accompany them to the toilet, especially when we are adults, old enough to beat these things.
You feel like a brave warrior all ready to conquer until you actually step into the toilet. Lights start to flicker and we feel someone's looking at us... A certain student staying in a hall once got locked in the toilet for an entire night after visiting the toilet at an unearthly and maybe inauspicious hour. The next morning the door was checked but no faults were found... Coincidence?
NTU is indeed cheery and fun with many students on campus in the day. But when night falls, its a different story. And just fyi, Choa Chu Kang Cemetery is within walking distance from NTU, making it easier to visit... if you get what I mean... And here are just a few of the many spooked places that will send shivers down your spine. You've probably seen our previous post on good places to sleep in NTU. But that doesn't mean everywhere is safe. Next time, be careful where you sleep.
Take care and till next time. :-)
